Ohio State is seeking nominations of programs, scholars and practitioners for the 2023 University Outreach and Engagement Awards, which honor faculty, staff, students and community partners for outstanding achievement in producing engaged scholarship and community impact. Williams named faculty fellow
Valarie Williams, professor of Dance, has been named a faculty fellow in the Office of Outreach and Engagement. In this role, she will be coordinating and leading the universitys efforts to complete and submit its Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement application. As a professor of Dance, Williams collaborates on artistic projects producing critical conversations connecting scholarship in the arts with solutions for global societal change.Read more
Applications are open for the annual OSEP awards
In collaboration with Ohio State Energy Partners (OSEP), the Office of Academic Affairs has opened a call for grant proposals that align with the universitys sustainability goals; advance diversity, equity and inclusion goals; or provide research opportunities to students who have had limited exposure to undergraduate research and experiential learning opportunities. Submissions are due Feb. 10, 2023. Faculty, staff and students are eligible to apply. Awards range from $10,000 to $50,000.Learn more and apply

Pharmacy successfully transitions to virtual summer camp
When the COVID-19 pandemic forced in-person activities to be cancelled, the College of Pharmacy had to get creative to ensure the success of its long-running summer camp Pills, Potions and Poisons. So Cynthia Canan, camp director and lecturer, and her team got together and made a plan to pull off a virtual camp.
Ohio State partners in new effort to expand teen health programs in Columbus
The Ohio State University is a partner in a $2.5 million federal grant to support and expand adolescent health care services within Columbus City Schools, with a special emphasis on prevention of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. The Office of Population Affairs at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recently awarded the grant to Nationwide Childrens Hospital.
Central Ohio team succeeds at American Dream competition
A project to help eligible central Ohioans seal their criminal records and improve their lives has been provisionally awarded $500,000 in the 2020 Alliance for the American Dream competition sponsored by Schmidt Futures. Columbus City Council, Legal Aid Society of Columbus, Ohio States Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity, Smart Columbus and Buckeye Interactive developed the Opportunity Port project. The online portal combines technology and legal expertise to guide eligible people through the application process.
Call For Action On Racial Justice
Ohio State has established the Seed Fund for Racial Justice to address the historic and contemporary effects of racism and racial disparities found in all aspects of American society. Grants will be used to seed innovative, untested, and/or exploratory research approaches and creative ideas that will contribute to the elimination of racism and solve its underlying causes and consequences on our campuses, in our community, and across the nation.
