The Engaged Practitioners Network is for those Ohio State staff who are working in spaces of community outreach and engagement. We will provide an opportunity for sharing best practices as well as networking with colleagues across campus. CUMU Learning & Sharing Virtual Series
The Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities (CUMU) Learning & Sharing Virtual Series is a free, CUMU members-only program focused on critical dialogue with practical takeaways that create action. This virtual series brings together CUMU administrators, faculty, staff, students, and community partners to learn from one another and share challenges and successes on a set of discrete issue areas. Cervical cancer prevention focus of new $11 million grant
A major public health initiative aimed at preventing cervical cancer in at-risk Appalachian families from Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia is underway with support from an $11 million National Cancer Institute grant to The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC James).
Autonomous vehicle research track up and running
A new $45 million research park dedicated to developing the newest generation of automated and connected vehicles is open for business. The Transportation Research Centers new Smart Mobility Advance Research Test Center, or SMARTCenter, opened Wednesday with a demonstration for state and local leaders. The state-of-the-art facility is two-thirds the size of Central Park. The SMARTCenter is a partnership between the state, the economic development nonprofit JobsOhio and The Ohio State University.
Faculty and staff help build capacity in eastern Africa
Faculty and staff from Ohio State are helping to build capacity in eastern Africa through the Global One Health initiatives One Health Summer Institute. The 2019 institute includes 21 training modules with close to 30 Ohio State faculty involved.
Assistant Vice Provost Nicole Nieto named 2019 Ohio State Glass Breaker
Women who have had success advancing their careers at The Ohio State University are paying it forward. Theyre finding ways to make sure the wave of womens leadership continues to have a strong presence in the faculty and administrative ranks. Theyre educating men about what its like to be a woman in academia, mentoring junior women, and excelling in professions traditionally dominated by men. This is especially true of the 2019 Glass Breakers.
