Stories and Opportunities for Ohio State's Outreach and Engagement Community
|
|
Colleagues,
Ohio State's regional campuses were all founded 60 or more years ago, largely driven by local community leaders who saw the value of having a university campus in their communities. Today, community leaders are an important part of the campus success through their service on advisory boards, committees and volunteering to lead or support campus programs and initiatives.
To further our understanding of opportunities on our regional campuses, OSU Extension is leading stakeholder engagement focus groups (community members, faculty, staff and students) to better understand opportunities for the future. The engagement of our communities, broadly defined, will be critical to future success on the campuses.
As we celebrate our regional and national award winners from last week's Engagement Scholarship Consortium Conference, we are reminded that our collective success and impact is driven by strong community partnerships. I encourage you to participate in upcoming Outreach and Engagement professional development sessions, the Engaged Scholarship Symposium on Nov. 1 or future Roads Scholars Days to share your success and learn how to strengthen university-community partnerships.
Sincerely,
Ryan Schmiesing
Senior Vice Provost for External Engagement

"Everyone can help make discoveries because there are not enough astronomers on Earth to tackle some of the big questions we have."

Healthier babies through education and support
|
|
Does it actually take a village to raise a child? Turns out, it does. Infant mortality is a heartbreaking subject. It's also not disappearing, especially in the Black community. In this episode of the Now at Ohio State podcast, we look at one of the solutions: Moms2B, an Ohio State program that helps babies reach their first birthdays. Hear from a mother who successfully completed the program and the doctor who runs it.
