The Office of Outreach and Engagement is seeking applications from community engagement programs for the internal process to select Ohio States nominee for the 2021 W.K. Kellogg Foundation Community Engagement Scholarship Award. The award, from the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities and the Engagement Scholarship Consortium, recognizes extraordinary community engagement initiatives. Applications are due December 11, 2020.

Autumn Glover is a founding staff member of PACT (Partners Achieving Community Transformation), currently serving as president of the nearly 10-year old "community quarterback." PACT is a nonprofit affiliate of Ohio State focused on the disruption of intergenerational poverty and the creation of a mixed-income community through strategic program and project investments, with an emphasis on housing, education, economic impact and health. She is responsible for the design and implementation of PACTs award-winning community engagement process and the development of the PACT Blueprint for Community Investment.

Ohio State is seeking nominations of programs, scholars and community partners for the 2021 University Outreach and Engagement Awards, which honor faculty, staff, students and community partners for outstanding achievement in producing engaged scholarship and community impact. Awards will be given in three categories: Community Engaged Program, Community Engaged Scholar, and Community Partner. The deadline to apply is January 8, 2021.

New research-based tools to help Ohioans at higher COVID-19 risk
|
Those looking to improve the lives of Ohioans facing the greatest COVID-19 risks now have a comprehensive, evidence-based toolkit one designed to inform the work of everyone from grassroots community groups to state leaders. The new report, conducted in collaboration with the Ohio Department of Health, is built on information gathered from a survey of 363 Ohioans representing people of color, rural populations and individuals with disabilities.
Ohios COVID-19 Populations Needs Assessment, released on Oct. 13 and led by experts at The Ohio State University College of Public Health, aims to improve Ohioans ability to prevent transmission of the virus and minimize its impact on communities that are at elevated risk.

The Bruising of America: When Black, White and Blue Collide

Dr. RaShall Brackney, chief of police for Charlottesville, Virginia, will discuss the path forward in America, including a need to uproot policing as we know it and regrow American law enforcement in partnership with the communities police are meant to serve. This conversation, to be moderated by WOSU's Ann Fisher, will be the first in Dean of the College of Public Health Amy Fairchild's newly established event series: Changing the Conversation: Dean's Public Health Thought Leader Series.

Ohio State, Honda partnership marks two decades of success
|
Leaders from The Ohio State University, Honda and state and local government are celebrating a historic milestone between the university and one of worlds most respected manufacturers. A formal agreement cementing the Honda - Ohio State partnership was approved 20 years ago this week. The agreement was an evolution of both organizations involvement in the Transportation Research Center, Inc., (TRC) in East Liberty.

BETHA 2021 Call for Proposals - deadline Dec. 1
|
Full-time assistant, associate and full professors (with a minimum 75 percent appointment for a nine or 12-month period) are invited to submit proposals to be considered for 2021 Battelle Endowment funding. The Battelle Memorial Institute-Ohio State partnership fosters programs that examine the relationship between science and technology and its impact on broader social and cultural issues.
