Ohio State exhibitors support COSI Science Festival

Ohio State proudly supported the COSI Science Festival, which included an exciting variety of events in Columbus and the surrounding communities May 4-6. The event was capped off with the Big Science Celebration at COSI on May 7 where more than 30 Ohio State exhibitors participated.

Patterson Lecture with President Kristina M. Johnson

The excellence of the education we offer here transforms our students lives, and that is important, Ohio State University President Kristina M. Johnson said during the 2022 James F. Patterson Land-Grant University Lecture. But as a land-grant university, we have an obligation to focus on the well-being of more than just the individuals we educate. Community Connector Q&A: Charlene Brenner

Charlene Brenners community-engaged work at the STEAM Factory spans the gamut, from developing community outreach programs that share the work of Ohio State faculty, staff, and students with the larger Columbus community to sustained and deeper efforts working collaboratively with community partners in developing jointly designed initiatives that address mutually defined needs, interests, and goals. At STEAM, they are also working to develop community engaged scholarship models that create, support, and sustain integrated community-centered, community-focused scholarship and education within our Ohio State efforts.

Applications open for Faculty Fellow program

The Office of Academic Affairs is announcing the Faculty Fellow program for the 2022-2023 academic year. Faculty fellows will dedicate a percentage of time (typically 20% to 50%) to the Office of Academic Affairs and participate in a leadership program. This years applicants will complete general projects and specific projects related to (1) the promotion and tenure process, (2) academic leadership programming, and (3) faculty programming. Deadline May 30.

Deadline extended for Engagement Scholarship Consortium grant applications

Through the Engaged Scholarship Research/Creative Activities Grants Program for Faculty, the Engagement Scholarship Consortium is providing financial support that helps facilitate positive outcomes for both scholars and communities. Faculty at ESC member institutions (Ohio State is a member) may apply for up to $5,000 to fund a one-year project. Collaborative projects among faculty from more than one discipline and/or at more than one university are encouraged. Preference will be given to tenure-line assistant or associate professors. Extended application deadline May 23.

Register for the Engagement Scholarship Consortiums Annual Conference

The ESC Southern Region and the University of Georgia will host the 22nd Annual International Conference in-person on the University of Georgia campus in Athens Sept. 21-22. This years theme is The Impact of Engaged Scholarship: People, Purpose, and Passion. Ohio State faculty and staff will receive the ESC member rate when registering.

Registration open for the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities' Annual Conference

The Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities Annual Conference will take place Oct. 23-26 in San Diego. The conference theme is "The Essential Role of Urban and Metropolitan Universities." The conference is focused on CUMU member institutions, their community partners, and their work addressing contemporary challenges through dialogue and presentations delivered in a variety of formats that allow for in-depth conversations and actionable next steps. Ohio State faculty and staff will receive the CUMU member rate when registering
