Stories and Opportunities for Ohio State's Outreach and Engagement Community

Colleagues,

In this months newsletter, you will notice several upcoming events for our communities of practice in engagement and engaged scholarship. The Office of Academic Affairs hosts multiple communities of practice supporting engaged practitioners and staff, graduate students who are emerging engaged scholars and those working in arts-based engagement. We anticipate several topical communities of practice (focused on specific research topics) to be offered later in the spring for engaged scholars across the university.

What are communities of practice?
Communities of practice are networking spaces for collective learning and ideation. A community of practice creates opportunities for connecting with our colleagues and peers from various disciplines to learn together, problem solve together and identify new opportunities for advancing engaged scholarship.

Joining or starting a community of practice:
We encourage you to consider joining one of our upcoming communities of practice events. We would love to hear your ideas for potential new communities of practice. Are you interested in a research topic and want to connect with peers across the university? Please reach out to the Office of Outreach and Engagement to discuss facilitating a future community of practice.

Spring grants and awards deadlines:
Deadlines are quickly approaching for our engagement grants, awards and programs of excellence nominations. If you have questions regarding your projects fit with our grant or award programs, please reach out to our office anytime to discuss your project. We look forward to reviewing your proposals this spring!

Sincerely,

Jason Reece
Vice Provost for Urban Research and
Community Engagement
