Engaged Scholarship Faculty Community of Practice - next meeting Sept. 30
|
The next meeting of the Engaged Scholarship Faculty Community of Practice will take place on Sept. 30 from 2:30-4 p.m.
The Office of Outreach and Engagement has placed a greater emphasis on the scholarship of engagement over the past few years through its grants and awards programs. In an effort to further advance this work and raise its profile at the university, we have formed a Community of Practice (CoP) for Ohio State faculty. If your scholarship is in any way focused on connecting the "rich resources of the university to our most pressing social, civic and ethical problems," (from Boyer, 1996, The Scholarship of Engagement), we would invite you to participate in this CoP.

Engaged Scholar Q&A: Holly Dabelko-Schoeny
|
Through the Age-Friendly Innovation Center, Holly Dabelko-Schoeny uses community-based participation research methods to engage older adults and those who serve them in improving social, built and service environments to foster social connection, inclusion and resiliency among older residents. Her most recent work focuses on issues of mobility, transportation and emergency response.
"My scholarship would not exist if it weren't for community partners," she says. "These 'experience experts' drive what questions I investigate, how I collect data, how I interpret the data and the implications of my discoveries."
