Ohio State recognized for Excellence in Community Engagement
Ohio State has been named as the 2019 recipient of the Ryan, Moser, Reilly Award for Excellence in Community Engagement Institutional Leadership from the Engagement Scholarship Consortium (ESC). The award recognizes a higher education institution and its exemplary contributions to engaged scholarship.
As a founding member of ESC, Ohio State is a national leader in community engagement and engaged scholarship with efforts spanning across the university, throughout the state and beyond.
Vice Provost for Outreach and Engagement Ryan Schmiesing accepted the award on the university's behalf at ESC's annual conference on Oct. 8. The award was presented by Ohio State's former Vice President for University Outreach, and one of the awards namesakes, Bobby Moser.
"Our faculty, students and staff bring the university's land-grant mission to life every day by engaging with our communities and creating scholarship around that work, Schmiesing said. It is an honor that ESC recognized their efforts with this award."
The ESC Awards Program provides important recognition opportunities for students, faculty, community partners and higher education institutions, and increases opportunities for enhanced peer learning.
ESC is the premier resource for higher education institutions and their faculty, staff, students and community partners focused on promoting excellence in the scholarship and practice of engaged scholarship locally and globally.
