Foulis receives Engaged Scholarship Research/Creative Activities Grant
Dr. Elena Foulis, Department of Spanish and Portuguese, has been named one of five nationwide recipients in the Engagement Scholarship Consortiums (ESC) 2019 Engaged Scholarship Research/Creative Activities Grants Program for Faculty. Foulis received the grant from ESC to work with a new group of students this academic year on oral history and performance. The proposed work enters into dialogue and conversation with the memories of oral history narrators, performers, and their audience.
Cervical cancer prevention focus of new $11 million grant
A major public health initiative aimed at preventing cervical cancer in at-risk Appalachian families from Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia is underway with support from an $11 million National Cancer Institute grant to The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC James).
Autonomous vehicle research track up and running
A new $45 million research park dedicated to developing the newest generation of automated and connected vehicles is open for business. The Transportation Research Centers new Smart Mobility Advance Research Test Center, or SMARTCenter, opened Wednesday with a demonstration for state and local leaders. The state-of-the-art facility is two-thirds the size of Central Park. The SMARTCenter is a partnership between the state, the economic development nonprofit JobsOhio and The Ohio State University.
Faculty and staff help build capacity in eastern Africa
Faculty and staff from Ohio State are helping to build capacity in eastern Africa through the Global One Health initiatives One Health Summer Institute. The 2019 institute includes 21 training modules with close to 30 Ohio State faculty involved.
