The Office of Outreach and Engagement has placed a greater emphasis on the scholarship of engagement over the past year through its grants and awards programs. In an effort to further advance this work and raise its profile at the university, we are forming a Community of Practice (CoP) for Ohio State faculty. If your scholarship is in any way focused on connecting the "rich resources of the university to our most pressing social, civic and ethical problems," (from Boyer, 1996, The Scholarship of Engagement), we would invite you to participate in this CoP.

If you are unsure if this faculty group relates to you and your work, consider the following questions:

  • Are you actively engaged with a community partner (broadly defined) and collaborating with them while relying on your faculty expertise to address a critical issue?
  • Are you actively engaged in scholarship that investigates university-community partnerships, including challenges and/or opportunities within those relationships?
  • Are you wanting to learn more about how you can engage with various communities to help address societal challenges?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, you belong in this CoP!

Please note that this will be a semi-formal group that allows members to learn from each other, build relationships and connections, and explore collaborative principles and partnerships.
